Two ways to use your HSA or FSA
The process varies slightly depending on whether you are making a one-time purchase or subscribing. Both paths are straightforward.
One-Time Purchase
Pay directly at checkout
- 1 Add OptimalAmino to your cart and proceed to checkout. Check out as a guest — not with Express Pay or Shop Pay.
- 2 Select Truemed as your payment method and enter your HSA or FSA card details.
- 3 Complete a short health survey to confirm eligibility. Once approved, your order is placed and ships normally.
Guest checkout is required. Truemed only appears when you check out as a guest. Express Checkout and Shop Pay will not show the Truemed option.
Subscription
Get reimbursed after purchase
- 1 Subscribe and check out as usual, paying with your regular credit or debit card.
- 2 Follow the reimbursement instructions in your order confirmation email to submit the purchase to your HSA or FSA administrator.
Truemed will provide a Letter of Medical Necessity to support your reimbursement request. Most administrators accept this documentation.
