Postexercise net protein synthesis in human muscle from orally administered amino acids

Do oral EAA supplements increase positive muscle protein balance? YES!

Are nonessential amino acids (NEAAs) necessary to include with EAAs post-exercise to produce an anabolic response? NO!

In this paper, researchers conclude "that an oral dose of amino acids after resistance exercise will result in positive muscle protein balance similar to that seen when the amino acids were infused. Additionally, it does not appear necessary to include nonessential amino acids in a formulation designed to elicit an anabolic response from muscle after exercise."
